Illinois Commission on the 50th Anniversary Planning Process

In December 2003, the Brown v. Board Planning Committee began meeting to develop goals for implementing SJR0040. Planning Committee members were: President Emil Jones, Jr., Senator Mattie Hunter, Judge Arnette Hubbard, President Elnora D. Daniel, Dr. Erma Brooks Williams, and Ms. Renetta Hunt. The committee met on numerous occasions. Members’ efforts resulted in the appointment of 25 Commissioners and 50 Advisory Council members to the Commission. Also, the planning committee organized and implemented a Kick-Off Reception.
